Flammable Liquid Recovery & Transfer
SUNPRO provided emergency spill response to a gasoline tanker truck rollover on a major interstate. Upon arrival, the tanker was on its side and the fill lines were embedded into the ground. The tractor trailer was immediately bonded and grounded and crews began activities associated with the tapping of the tank and subsequent transfer of product. Simultaneously, earthen dams were constructed to aid in containment and temporary collection pans were placed beneath the dome lids until the release could safely be mitigated. Responding fire departments provided support in the event of a flare-up. The product was transferred to a second tanker for transportation. Upon completion of the transfer, the tanker was righted and soil excavation below the tanker was initiated. All excavated soils were characterized for proper off-site disposal in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and requirements.
